I arrived in Detroit on Thursday and the weather was sunny and warm enough to wear shorts and a t-shirt. By the time the tailgate rolled around on Sunday - Everyone was bundled. It actually snowed on Sunday night.

But, the weather didn't stop the tailgate. Kevin and Al from DetroitTailgate.com asked me to help them judge a tailgate contest. If there's food iinvolved, I'm there.

Rodney, our International Relations Exec joined me at the Gate in Detroit and helped me judge the contest.

I sampled everything from crab legs to fried catfish to filet to FrankenBurgers, but the winners were a phenomenal rib that fell off the bone and still held their juices. INCREDIBLE! All the food was perfect and the tailgates were off the hook!

I even had a drink called an Apple Pie made with Everclear and apple cider. Kevin's Bar and Foos Ball table were a ton of fun. Check out the picture below of the TubGaters. A portable hot tub on a freezing day. And the Booty Lounge was a must visit. Check out their MySpace. (You'll have to do the work on that). But the nail in the coffin was actually a coffin featuring a grill in one side and ice chest in the other - The Original Grill and Chill!

This week's Red Cup Salute goes to a ridiculous menu item - a hard boiled egg, wrapped in bacon with cream cheese, battered and deep fried! Are you seeing a theme here? But the toast goes to my wonderful wife Karen for allowing me to be 2500 miles away on our anniversary - Love you Blacktop Babe!
